Statement 1—ULLAS is linked to the objectives of National Education Policy 2020. ULLAS, or Understanding of Lifelong Learning for All in Society, implemented as the New India Literacy Programme, focuses on adult education and lifelong learning for the period 2022-27.

NEP 2020 gives importance to adult education and lifelong learning. Accordingly, ULLAS includes five major components—Foundational Literacy and Numeracy, Critical Life Skills, Basic Education, Vocational Skills and Continuing Education. It aims to cover 5 crore non-literate persons with foundational literacy and numeracy over five years.

Statement 2—DIKSHA is also linked to the objectives of NEP 2020. DIKSHA (Digital Infrastructure for Knowledge Sharing) provides digital learning infrastructure for school education. It offers textbooks, digital content, courses, teacher resources and educational material for different stages of learning. Its current structure also provides resources aligned with the Foundational, Preparatory, Middle and Secondary stages under NEP 2020.

NEP 2020 recognises the use of technology and digital learning as important means of improving accessibility, quality and teacher development. Therefore, DIKSHA supports the implementation of the policy's objectives.

Statement 3—Bharat Nirman Programme is not an education programme for meeting NEP 2020 objectives. Bharat Nirman was launched in 2005-06 for rural infrastructure development. Its six major components were irrigation, rural roads, rural housing, rural drinking water, rural electrification and rural telecommunication/connectivity.

Thus, the principal objective of Bharat Nirman was the development of physical infrastructure in rural India, not the implementation of the educational objectives of National Education Policy 2020.
