Detailed Solution

The Tropic of Cancer is located at 23°30′ N latitude and passes through the central part of India.

In India, the Tropic of Cancer passes through a total of 8 States. From west to east, they are—

Gujarat → Rajasthan → Madhya Pradesh → Chhattisgarh → Jharkhand → West Bengal → Tripura → Mizoram.

Therefore, among the States given in the question, the Tropic of Cancer passes through Gujarat, Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand, but does not pass through Uttar Pradesh.

India's Standard Meridian of 82°30′ E passes near Mirzapur in Uttar Pradesh, whereas the Tropic of Cancer at 23°30′ N does not pass through Uttar Pradesh. These two geographical lines should not be confused.

The Tropic of Cancer divides India into approximately two equal parts. A large part of India to its south lies in the tropical zone, while the region to its north lies in subtropical latitudes.
