B.

May, 22

C.

June, 23

D.

April, 16

Correct Answer: B

Detailed Solution

World Biodiversity Day, officially known as the International Day for Biological Diversity (IDB), is observed every year on 22 May. Its purpose is to increase understanding and awareness of issues related to biodiversity.

The date has a specific historical significance. On 22 May 1992, the agreed text of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) was adopted at the Nairobi conference. The date of 22 May was selected to commemorate this event.

Initially, the Day was observed on 29 December, because the CBD entered into force on 29 December 1993. Later, in 2000, the United Nations General Assembly adopted 22 May as the date for its observance.

22 March is associated with World Water Day, whereas Biodiversity Day is observed on 22 May.
