Euro Emission Norms prescribe the maximum permissible emission limits for pollutants released from motor vehicles.
These standards regulate emissions of Carbon Monoxide (CO), Hydrocarbons (HC) and Nitrogen Oxides (NOₓ). Depending on the type of vehicle and engine, limits are also prescribed for other pollutants such as Particulate Matter (PM).
Carbon Monoxide is mainly produced by incomplete combustion of fuel.

Current Status
