Detailed Solution

3. Nagaland — 1 December 1963. Nagaland was formed by combining the Naga Hills of Assam with the Tuensang area of the erstwhile North-East Frontier Agency (NEFA). It became the 16th state of India. Its formation was primarily based on the 16-Point Agreement of 1960 between the Government of India and the Naga People's Convention. It was granted full statehood under the State of Nagaland Act, 1962.

1. Punjab — 1 November 1966. The present territorial configuration of Punjab was established under the Punjab Reorganisation Act, 1966. The erstwhile Punjab was reorganised on linguistic lines, with Punjabi-speaking areas forming Punjab and predominantly Hindi-speaking areas becoming part of Haryana. Certain hill areas were transferred to Himachal Pradesh, while Chandigarh became a Union Territory. Although Indian Punjab had existed since 1947, the question refers to its reorganisation in 1966.

4. Sikkim — 16 May 1975. Sikkim was formerly a Himalayan monarchy under the Namgyal dynasty and became an Indian protectorate in 1950. Through the 36th Constitutional Amendment Act, 1975, Sikkim was incorporated into the Indian Union. It became the 22nd state of India. Special constitutional provisions were introduced for Sikkim under Article 371F.

2. Arunachal Pradesh — 20 February 1987. Arunachal Pradesh was previously known as the North-East Frontier Agency (NEFA). In 1972, it became a Union Territory and was renamed Arunachal Pradesh. Subsequently, under the State of Arunachal Pradesh Act, 1986, it attained full statehood on 20 February 1987. It became the 24th state of India. Its capital is Itanagar.
