NMDC
NHPC
BHEL
NTPC
Correct Answer: D
Detailed Solution
Anushakti Vidhyut Nigam Limited (ASHVINI) is a joint venture of the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL) and NTPC Limited. It was incorporated on 27 January 2011.
The joint venture was created with the objective of setting up nuclear power projects and developing commercial electricity generation from nuclear energy in India.
It has 51% equity participation by NPCIL and 49% by NTPC. Therefore, it is also a subsidiary of NPCIL.
Here, BHEL can be an important distractor because it is a major PSU associated with manufacturing power-generation equipment; however, the joint-venture partner of NPCIL in ASHVINI is NTPC.
ASHVINI → NPCIL 51% + NTPC 49% → Nuclear Power Projects
Current Status
On 11 September 2024, the Government of India authorised ASHVINI to Build, Own and Operate nuclear power plants in India. According to the current official record, ASHVINI is implementing the Mahi Banswara Rajasthan Atomic Power Project—4 × 700 MWe, with a total capacity of 2,800 MWe, in Rajasthan. NPCIL
