Indian Bolshevik Party
Revolutionary Communist Party
Bolshevik Leninist Party
Radical Democratic Party
Correct Answer: B
Detailed Solution
Saumyendranath Tagore founded the Revolutionary Communist Party of India (RCPI). On 1 August 1934, he established an organisation called the Communist League of India, which later became known as the Revolutionary Communist Party of India. The organisation emerged separately from the Communist Party of India (CPI) due to ideological differences.
Saumyendranath Tagore (1901–1974) was born in Jorasanko, Calcutta. He belonged to the family of Rabindranath Tagore. He graduated in Economics from Presidency College in 1921. Initially, he participated in the Non-Cooperation Movement, but later became attracted to Marxist ideology and actively participated in labour movements.
In 1926, he joined the Workers and Peasants Party and contributed to organising jute mill workers in Bengal. In 1927, he travelled to Soviet Russia and participated in the Sixth Congress of the Communist International (Comintern) in 1928. He opposed certain policies of Stalin and supported Leon Trotsky's theory of Permanent Revolution.
The Revolutionary Communist Party of India aimed to promote socialist transformation by organising workers and peasants. The party was particularly associated with workers' and peasants' movements in Bengal. The Indian Bolshevik Party, Bolshevik Leninist Party, and Radical Democratic Party mentioned in the other options were separate political organisations. Among them, the Radical Democratic Party was founded by M. N. Roy in 1940.
