A.

Culture

B.

Human Resource Development

C.

Minority Affairs

D.

External Affairs

Correct Answer: C

Detailed Solution

The Nalanda Project was an initiative of the Ministry of Minority Affairs, Government of India for Faculty Development in higher educational institutions associated with minority communities.

The Project was launched on 3 March 2014 at Aligarh Muslim University (AMU). Its objective was the orientation and professional development of faculty members of Minority Universities, Minority Managed Degree Colleges (MMDCs) and higher educational institutions located in minority concentration areas.

The Project formed part of the Ministry's Information, Education and Communication (IEC) strategy. Its focus extended beyond subject knowledge to teaching methods, the changing academic environment, use of new technologies and improvement in the overall quality of higher education.

AMU was selected for the initial implementation because it was also a Nodal Staff College of the University Grants Commission.

It should not be confused with the establishment of Nalanda University or an archaeological project relating to ancient Nalanda. The Nalanda Project in this question specifically concerned faculty development in minority higher educational institutions.

Nalanda Project → Faculty Development → Minority Higher Educational Institutions → Ministry of Minority Affairs
