A.

Ministry of Culture

B.

Ministry of Human Resource Development

C.

Ministry of Minority Affairs

D.

Ministry of External Affairs

Correct Answer: C

Detailed Solution

The Nalanda Project was a Faculty Development Programme of the Ministry of Minority Affairs, Government of India. It was introduced to improve the quality and professional development of teachers in higher educational institutions associated with minority communities.

The Project was launched in March 2014 at Aligarh Muslim University (AMU). AMU was given an important role in the initial implementation of the programme because it was also a Nodal Staff College of the University Grants Commission.

The programme primarily aimed at the orientation and development of faculty members of Minority Universities, Minority Managed Degree Colleges (MMDCs) and higher educational institutions located in minority concentration areas.

The Project was developed under the Ministry's Information, Education and Communication (IEC) strategy. Faculty development covered not only subject knowledge but also areas such as teaching methods, the changing academic environment, use of new technologies and quality of curricula.

It should not be confused with Nalanda University or an infrastructure project relating to Nalanda district in Bihar. The “Nalanda Project” in this question specifically concerned Faculty Development in minority higher educational institutions.
