Detailed Solution

Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay was born in 1838 at Kanthalpara in Naihati, in the present-day North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal. Records associated with the Government of West Bengal identify his ancestral house at Naihati as the place where he was born and brought up.

Bankim Chandra was one of the leading novelists of modern Bengali literature. His famous works include Anandamath, Durgeshnandini, Kapalkundala and Devi Chaudhurani.

His most celebrated national legacy is ‘Vande Mataram’, which he included in Anandamath. The first two stanzas were subsequently accorded the status of the National Song of India.

In the Railway Budget 2012-13, to commemorate Bankim Chandra’s 175th birth anniversary, it was announced that a Coaching Terminal named after him and a Museum would be established at his birthplace, Naihati.

Naihati/Kanthalpara → Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay → Vande Mataram → Anandamath
