Correct Answer: C
Detailed Solution
The first Communist government in India was established in Kerala in 1957. The government was headed by E. M. S. Namboodiripad and was led by the Communist Party of India (CPI). According to the official account of the Government of Kerala, the ministry headed by E. M. S. Namboodiripad assumed office on 5 April 1957, bringing India’s first Communist government to power.
This development occurred soon after the formation of the State of Kerala. Kerala was formed on 1 November 1956 following States Reorganisation, and after the 1957 elections, a CPI-led government was formed.
E. M. S. Namboodiripad also became the first Chief Minister of Kerala. His first term lasted from 5 April 1957 to 31 July 1959.
