Firozabad is a famous glass industry centre of Uttar Pradesh and is particularly known for the manufacture of glass bangles.

Glass bangles have traditionally been manufactured on a large scale in Firozabad. For this reason, the city is also known as “Suhag Nagari”, because glass bangles have a special association with marriage and marital traditions in India.

Over time, the glass industry of Firozabad has expanded beyond bangles. The city now also produces decorative glassware, glass bowls, lamps, bottles and various other utility and decorative glass products.

Under the Government of Uttar Pradesh's One District One Product (ODOP) programme, the major product associated with Firozabad is Glass Products, with glass bangles forming an important part of its traditional identity.
