Evidence of uranium mineralisation has been found in Lalitpur district of Uttar Pradesh. In particular, uranium mineralisation has been identified in the Sonrai area.
According to the Atomic Minerals Directorate, uranium mineralisation around Sonrai, Lalitpur is associated with chloritic shale, Bandai Sandstone and Rohini Carbonate of the Bijawar Group.
According to the Directorate of Geology and Mining, Uttar Pradesh, uranium was also discovered along with copper mineralisation in the Pisnari area of Lalitpur. The uranium-bearing zone has been reported to be about 300 metres wide, with uranium content ranging approximately from 0.01% to 0.09%.
This area forms part of the Bundelkhand geological terrain, which is significant for a variety of metallic and non-metallic mineral resources.
