Statement 1 is correct. PraVaHa stands for Parallel RANS Solver for Aerospace Vehicle Aero-thermo-dynamic Analysis. It is a Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) software developed at ISRO's Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC).
It has been developed to simulate external and internal airflow around launch vehicles and winged and non-winged re-entry vehicles.
Statement 2 is also correct. During the initial aerodynamic design of space/launch vehicles, a large number of different configurations need to be evaluated so that a few optimum configurations can be selected for detailed evaluation.
CFD can be used to predict the airflow around a vehicle and the aerodynamic and aerothermal loads acting on it. This helps in designing the vehicle's shape, structure and Thermal Protection System (TPS).
PraVaHa has also been extensively used in the Gaganyaan Programme for the aerodynamic analysis of HLVM3, Crew Escape System and Crew Module.
