Detailed Solution

Statement 1 is correct. The countrywide Comprehensive Crop Insurance Scheme (CCIS) was introduced from Kharif 1985. Experimental crop insurance programmes had existed earlier on a limited scale, but the comprehensive nationwide scheme was introduced in 1985.

Statement 2 is correct. Uttar Pradesh is divided into 9 agro-climatic zones. These zones are used for agricultural planning on the basis of conditions such as climate, rainfall, soil, irrigation and cropping pattern.

Statement 3 is correct. The Food for Work Programme was introduced in 1977. Its objective was to provide additional employment in rural areas and provide foodgrains as part of wages. It was later converted into the National Rural Employment Programme (NREP) in 1980.

Statement 4 is incorrect. The Blue Revolution is associated with the development of fisheries and aquaculture, i.e. increasing fish production and productivity, not with the production of mustard.

Current Status (2026): Government agricultural documents continue to classify Uttar Pradesh into 9 agro-climatic zones. At present, a major scheme advancing the objectives of the Blue Revolution in the fisheries sector is the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY), being implemented since 2020-21.
