Correct Answer: C

Detailed Solution

Ballari–Iron ore is correctly matched. The Ballari region of Karnataka is one of the major iron-ore mining belts of India. Records of the Indian Bureau of Mines list numerous Iron Ore Mines in Ballari district.

Katni–Bauxite is also correctly matched. Several Bauxite Mines in Katni district of Madhya Pradesh are recorded in official IBM records.

Bhilwara–Manganese was treated as incorrect by UPPSC. The current IBM mineral profile of Rajasthan identifies important manganese occurrences in Banswara, Jaipur and Pali districts, whereas Bhilwara is not treated as a major manganese mining centre.

An important accuracy clarification is necessary regarding Copper–Chitradurga. The accepted UPPSC key treats it as incorrect and therefore gives 1 and 3 as the answer. However, current Indian Bureau of Mines records also report copper occurrence in Chitradurga district, and older mining directories record copper-ore leases in Chitradurga.
