MacMohan line forms the boundary between
India and China
India and Pakistan
India and Pakistan
India and Nepal
Correct Answer: A
Detailed Solution
The McMahon Line is associated with the eastern sector of the India-China boundary. It was proposed as a boundary alignment between British India and Tibet during the 1914 Simla Convention.
The line was named after Sir Henry McMahon, the then Foreign Secretary of British India. It is principally associated with the present Arunachal Pradesh–Tibet sector.
An important current clarification is that India treats the McMahon Line as the basis of the boundary in the eastern sector, whereas China does not accept it. The final settlement of the India-China boundary remains disputed between the two countries.
It should also not be confused with the LAC (Line of Actual Control). The McMahon Line relates to a historical boundary alignment, whereas the LAC is a separate concept concerning the present line of actual control between India and China.
