The Tatipaka Oil Refinery was established at Tatipaka in the then East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh. It is a small refinery of ONGC.
The refinery was commissioned in September 2001. Its refining capacity is about 0.066 MMTPA, i.e. approximately 66,000 metric tonnes per annum.
The Tatipaka region is associated with the important hydrocarbon-producing Krishna-Godavari Basin. Therefore, the refinery has the geographical advantage of being located close to oil and gas producing fields.
Under the present administrative arrangement, the Tatipaka area falls in Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Konaseema district.
