B.

Lipulekh — Uttarakhand

C.

Rohtang — Himachal Pradesh

D.

Palghat — Kerala

Correct Answer: A

Detailed Solution

Nathu La is an important mountain pass in the Eastern Himalayas in Sikkim. It is situated about 54 km east of Gangtok at an altitude of approximately 14,140 feet. Being located on the India-China border, it is also strategically and historically important.

Lipulekh Pass lies in the Pithoragarh region of Uttarakhand. It is situated near the India-Tibet border and is also an important route associated with the Kailash-Mansarovar pilgrimage. The official Uttarakhand Tourism master plan places Lipulekh Pass in the Pithoragarh route.

Rohtang Pass is located in Himachal Pradesh, about 51 km from Manali. It traditionally provides access from the Kullu Valley to the Lahaul-Spiti region. Owing to heavy snowfall, the pass historically remained closed for several months of the year.

Palghat or Palakkad Gap is an important natural gap in the Western Ghats in Kerala. It forms an approximately 40 km-wide break in the mountain chain and has historically served as an important natural route between Kerala and Tamil Nadu.

For examinations, remember the direct linkage—Nathu La–Sikkim, Lipulekh–Uttarakhand, Rohtang–Himachal Pradesh, Palghat Gap–Kerala.
