Correct Answer: C

Detailed Solution

The 27th annual session of the All India Muslim League was held at Lahore from 22–24 March 1940. The session was presided over by Mohammad Ali Jinnah.

Jinnah delivered his presidential address on 22 March 1940. The session became particularly important in the history of the Muslim League because the famous Lahore Resolution was passed during it.

The session was held at Minto Park in Lahore, which is now known as Greater Iqbal Park.

The Lahore Resolution presented on 23 March 1940 dealt with the future political arrangement of the Muslim-majority areas of north-western and eastern India and proposed separate constitutional units for them. It later became widely known as the Pakistan Resolution.

An important fact is that the word “Pakistan” did not appear in the original text of the resolution; the name “Pakistan Resolution” became widely used later.

Therefore, the Lahore Session of the Muslim League in 1940 was presided over by Mohammad Ali Jinnah.
