Correct Answer: A
Detailed Solution
During the Second World War, after the failure of the Cripps Mission, the Congress advanced more explicitly its demand for the immediate end of British rule. On 14 July 1942, the Congress Working Committee at Wardha adopted a resolution concerning the withdrawal of British rule.
Subsequently, at the meeting of the All India Congress Committee (AICC) in Bombay, Jawaharlal Nehru moved the Quit India Resolution on 7 August 1942.
After discussion, the resolution was adopted by the AICC on 8 August 1942. Its central demand was the immediate ending of British rule in India.
At the same historic meeting, Mahatma Gandhi gave the call of “Do or Die.” On the following day, 9 August 1942, Gandhi and several leading Congress leaders were arrested, after which the movement spread rapidly to different parts of the country.
Therefore, the person who moved the Quit India Resolution at Bombay in 1942 was Jawahar Lal Nehru.
