Detailed Solution

The earliest among these events was the Battle of Daurah in 1532 CE. During the early years of Humayun's reign, Afghan chiefs under Mahmud Lodi were active against Mughal authority in Bihar.

Humayun confronted the Afghan army near Daurah or Dadrah and defeated it. He subsequently proceeded towards Chunar, where the power of Sher Khan was rapidly increasing.

Next came the Battle of Chausa in 1539 CE between Humayun and Sher Khan. Chausa was situated near Buxar in present-day Bihar. Humayun suffered a severe defeat in this battle, greatly strengthening Sher Khan's political position.

After his victory at Chausa, Sher Khan assumed the title Sher Shah and further consolidated his position as an independent ruler.

The next event was the Battle of Kannauj or Bilgram in 1540 CE. In this battle, Sher Shah again decisively defeated Humayun. As a result, Humayun was forced to leave India and Sur authority was established over North India.

The latest event was the Battle of Samugarh in 1658 CE. It was an important battle in the war of succession among the sons of Shah Jahan, in which the combined forces of Aurangzeb and Murad defeated Dara Shikoh.

The Battle of Samugarh occurred approximately a century after the Humayun-Sher Shah conflict and therefore comes last in the given sequence.

Thus, the correct chronology is — Daurah (1532) → Chausa (1539) → Kannauj (1540) → Samugarh (1658).
