Detailed Solution
The earliest among these was the Battle of Bilgram in 1540 CE. It is also known as the Battle of Kannauj. In this battle, Sher Shah Suri decisively defeated Humayun. Following this defeat, Humayun was forced to leave India and Sur authority was established in northern India.
Next came the Battle of Sarnal in 1572 CE. It was associated with Akbar's Gujarat campaign. During the campaign to establish Mughal authority in Gujarat, Akbar pursued Ibrahim Husain Mirza and defeated him at Sarnal.
The third was the Battle of Dharmat in 1658 CE. During the war of succession among the sons of Shah Jahan, the combined forces of Aurangzeb and Murad confronted the imperial army led by Maharaja Jaswant Singh. The forces of Aurangzeb and Murad emerged victorious in this battle.
The latest among these was the Battle of Jajau in 1707 CE. After the death of Aurangzeb, a struggle for succession broke out among his sons. At Jajau, Muazzam defeated Azam Shah and subsequently became the Mughal emperor with the title Bahadur Shah I.
Thus, the sequence is — Bilgram (1540) → Sarnal (1572) → Dharmat (1658) → Jajau (1707).
