A.

Warangal

B.

Nagalapura

C.

Udayagiri

D.

Chandragiri

Correct Answer: B

Detailed Solution

The great Vijayanagara ruler Krishna Deva Raya founded a new town called Nagalapura or Nagalapur near Vijayanagara.

Krishna Deva Raya belonged to the Tuluva dynasty and ruled approximately from 1509 to 1529/30 CE. His reign represented one of the high points of the Vijayanagara Empire.

Nagalapura developed as a new suburb and royal residential centre near the Vijayanagara capital. Present-day Hosapete/Hospet is identified with the historical Nagalapura.

Krishna Deva Raya also developed a large tank and irrigation system for the new town. The reservoir supplied water to Nagalapura and was also used for irrigating surrounding rice fields and gardens.

This development formed part of Krishna Deva Raya's wider programme of constructing temples, gopurams, mandapas, tanks and irrigation works.

Warangal was already an important Kakatiya city and capital long before him. Udayagiri also predated Krishna Deva Raya and was associated with his military campaigns. Chandragiri was likewise an older historical settlement.
