B.

Jahangir’s Tomb — Sahdara

C.

Tomb of Shaikh Salim Chishti — Fatehpur Sikri

D.

Tomb of Shaikh Nizamuddin Aulia — Ajmer

Correct Answer: D

Detailed Solution

(a) Akbar’s Tomb — Sikandara — Correct.
The tomb of Mughal emperor Akbar is situated at Sikandara, Agra. Akbar selected the site during his lifetime and initiated the construction of his mausoleum. After his death, his son Jahangir completed it.

The mausoleum is a monumental red sandstone and marble structure standing within a charbagh complex. The Archaeological Survey of India's list of centrally protected monuments also records Akbar's Tomb at Sikandara, Agra.

(b) Jahangir’s Tomb — Shahdara — Correct.
The tomb of Mughal emperor Jahangir is situated at Shahdara Bagh, Lahore, close to the Ravi River. The English scan of the question prints the place as “Sahdara”; the standard spelling is Shahdara.

The mausoleum stands within a large garden complex and is marked by tall corner minarets. The official Punjab Government description explicitly places Jahangir's Tomb at Shahdara town on the north-western outskirts of Lahore.

(c) Tomb of Shaikh Salim Chishti — Fatehpur Sikri — Correct.
The tomb of the Sufi saint Shaikh Salim Chishti is situated within the Jama Masjid complex at Fatehpur Sikri. Akbar held Shaikh Salim Chishti in high regard, and the development of Fatehpur Sikri was closely connected with Akbar's association with the saint.

According to UNESCO, the tomb was completed approximately in 1580–81 CE and was further embellished during Jahangir's reign in 1606.

(d) Tomb of Shaikh Nizamuddin Aulia — Ajmer — Incorrect.
The shrine and tomb of the great Chishti Sufi saint Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya are situated in the Nizamuddin area of Delhi, not in Ajmer. Delhi Tourism explicitly identifies the Nizam-ud-Din shrine as the tomb of Hazrat Nizam-ud-Din Auliya in Delhi.

Ajmer, on the other hand, contains the famous shrine of Khwaja Moinuddin Hasan Chishti. Rajasthan Tourism states that the Ajmer Sharif Dargah encloses the grave of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti.

Therefore, the two locations should be distinguished—

Nizamuddin Auliya — Delhi
Moinuddin Chishti — Ajmer
