Correct Answer: A

Detailed Solution

  1. Donyi Polo Airport—Correct

    • It is situated at Hollongi, near Itanagar, the capital of Arunachal Pradesh.

    • It is the first Greenfield airport in Arunachal Pradesh.

    • It was developed over an area of more than 690 acres at a cost exceeding ₹640 crore.

    • It has a 2,300-metre runway and is suitable for all-weather operations.

    • It was developed by the Airports Authority of India in collaboration with the Union and Arunachal Pradesh Governments.

  2. Kushinagar International Airport—Correct

    • It is located at Kushinagar in Uttar Pradesh.

    • Kushinagar is included in the Ministry of Civil Aviation’s list of Greenfield airports.

    • It is among the Greenfield airports that have already been operationalised.

    • Its development as an international airport aims to improve international connectivity to Kushinagar and the Buddhist Circuit.

  3. Vijayawada International Airport—Incorrect

    • Vijayawada was an already operational airport which was subsequently granted international-airport status.

    • It is not included in the Ministry of Civil Aviation’s list of approved and operationalised Greenfield airports.

    • Expansion of an existing airport or granting it international status does not constitute the construction of a new Greenfield airport.

Therefore, only Donyi Polo Airport and Kushinagar International Airport were constructed as Greenfield projects.
