Detailed Solution

The correct chronological sequence of the events is:

Second Round Table Conference, 1931 → Quit India Movement, 1942 → Mutiny in Royal Indian Navy, 1946

  1. Second Round Table Conference—1931: It was held in London from 7 September to 1 December 1931. Following the Gandhi-Irwin Pact, Mahatma Gandhi participated in it as the sole official representative of the Indian National Congress.

  2. Quit India Movement—1942: The All India Congress Committee adopted the Quit India Resolution at Gowalia Tank Maidan in Bombay on 8 August 1942. On this occasion, Gandhiji gave the call of ‘Do or Die’. Following the arrest of the principal leaders on 9 August, the movement spread widely.

  3. Mutiny in Royal Indian Navy—1946: It began on 18 February 1946, when Indian naval ratings at the Royal Indian Navy’s signal-training establishment, HMIS Talwar, in Bombay refused duty. Its major causes included poor food, unsatisfactory service conditions, racial discrimination and political resentment against British rule. The revolt soon spread to ships in Bombay harbour and other naval establishments.
