Correct Answer: A

Detailed Solution

Only Broach is correct. The first quarter of the seventeenth century roughly covers 1601–1625. According to IGNOU, the English established a factory at Masulipatam in 1611 and, by 1619, factories had also been established at Agra, Ahmedabad and Broach. Therefore, Broach was an established trading centre of the English East India Company during this period.

In the same chronology, IGNOU places Armagon in 1626, Hariharpur and Balasore in 1633, and Madras in 1639. Chicacole and Trichinopoly were not among the English East India Company's factories in the first quarter of the seventeenth century.
